The Return of the Sunset

And finally I’m back with some more sunsets from my favourite holiday destination: Cape Town. There is something about the combination of light, clouds and the Atlantic Ocean that make this place the sunset lovers & photographer’s dream.
I have also started an instagram account so follow me @sluttysunsets for regular sunset posts and sunset related innuendo. http://instagram.com/sluttysunsets

I love this tree. I love these colours.

Along with the sea and clouds and sunsets, the boats are pretty nice to watch.

More to come!

Veld sunset

And the sunsets are back.
This time there is no sea, just hills and open veld.

Skylines

So as a contrast to the endless posts of sunsets and sea, I have decided to show another, equally beautiful, view of South Africa that I fell in love with on my roadtrip. Here are a selection of skyline views that I took on my iPhone as I tried to capture the sense of endless space that is so characteristic of the Karoo. These photos were taken in and around the Addo elephant park area.

The first sunset of my stay started like this. I had been sleeping but it was impossible to ignore the swift changes of colour and light.

As anyone who has packed in a rush will know, you are bound to forget something. In my case, it was my camera. Fortunately, thanks to the rapid evolution of smartphone technology, I had my iPhone on hand to attempt to capture the beauty of Nice and the other nearby towns.
My first morning, I woke up to the yellow reflecting off the wall into my room.

Final moments of first sunset

AS some of you may already know, I love sunsets. They can be so surprising in terms of the light and colours that transform right until the sun has disappeared. Even when you’re looking from one tall building to another with little direct view of the actual sunset, I continue to be amazed by the drama and silhouettes.
